Kawagoe "little Edo"

There is Kawagoe in a place for only less than 1 hour from Tokyo, and is a rare castle town leaving the history of Edo culture in now. There is by the dozens a historic spot and cultural properties in Kawagoe, and is famous in Kanto with Nikkou and Kamakura. A feature of the Edo period is hardly left in Imperia Palace / Edo castle and the castle town Tokyo by an earthquake disaster and the war damage. The history of Kitain is thought to have begun when the monk Ennin founded Muryoju Temple in 830 A.D. Muryoju is another name for the Amitabha Buddha (Buddha of Unending Life) the main object of worship at the Temple. Kitain has much precious historical cultural assets, and there is a very famous thing too 500 Statues of Rakan, fair of Dharma dolls.

Nakain

Nakain was founded in 830 A.D. by grand Buddhist priest Ennin. A garden of a temple changes the shape by the four seasons, and pleases the scene to people visiting this place. A person loses a word to describe it in beauty of a cherry blooming in spring in particular. This temple is conveyed with the birthplace of Kawagoe tea and Sayama tea.

This shop was established 240 years ago to sell writing paper, writing brushes, Shoji paper, Fusuma, and Byobu (folding screens). At present, they mainly sell hanging scrolls, frames, and Shikishi, a large square card used to write poems or to paint pictures. Shikishi are popular among foreign travelers because of the reasonable price and art depicted on them.
